Our smartphones are an essential part of our daily lives as they have all the data that we use on a daily basis. One such data that the smartphones have is the contact list of our friends, family, colleagues, and other people. People often keep a backup of their contact list no matter what operating system they are using whether its iOS, Android, or Blackberry, a backup is a must.
However, there are often cases where you will see people finding it difficult to export contacts from an iPhone to an Android phone. This is because they don’t know the proper ways through which they can transfer iPhone contacts to Android. People believe that there is no way to export contacts from iPhone. But there actually are multiple ways through which you can move contacts from iPhone to Android easily. We will now take you through the different methods on how to do this:
The main question for people shifting from iPhone to Android remains the same: how to transfer contacts from iCloud to Android devices. When there is iCloud with you, there is no need to worry because the process is very easy.
You first have to enable iCloud on your phone so that you can back up all your contacts so that you have the latest iCloud contacts in the backup. Then sign in on to your iCloud PC or laptop and click on contacts. Select the contacts that you want to export, or if you want to select all the contacts then you simply press CTRL+A.
Once the contacts are selected, click on the gear icon that is present at the bottom and select Export vCard. Afterward another window will appear where you will have to select all contacts again and then right-click on any contact to choose Export vCard option. Name the vCard with whatever name you want and save it in any desired location on your computer or laptop.
Once you have saved the VCF file, then it gets easier to transfer iCloud contacts to Android. You can either email the file to yourself or you can directly transfer contacts from iCloud to Gmail by importing the VCF file to Google. Set up your Google account on your Android device and import the VCF file and all your iPhone contacts will then be updated into your Android device. You can then keep hold of the VCF file and update it regularly as it will now save all your updated contacts.
Another way to export iCloud contacts to Gmail is to do it through Google Contact option. But for that purpose, you need to have a Google account. If you don’t have one, head over and signup for a Google/Gmail account. If you already have an account then you need to head over to your Google contacts in your browser and see an import contact option.
Remember the vCard file that we saved from iCloud, select that file and import contacts to it. This way you can transfer iCloud contacts to Gmail. If you already have a Google account then you will see a bigger contact list because there might be duplicates in it after the import of iCloud contacts to Google. In that case, you can remove the duplicates manually by selecting one contact at a time and modify each contact card.
Google also has a Merge contacts tool where it will merge the contacts with the same name or number. Google will search for the contact list to find duplicates and will provide you a contact list that will be free from any duplicates. But this method is not accurate as there might be some discrepancies in your data hence removing the duplicates manually is considered to be a better option. You can find the Merge option under the More button where there is a Find & Merge Duplicate option for contacts.
Once you are done downloading VCF file and updating it so that you can sync contacts from iPhone to Android, you should first know how to sync your Google account. If you have got a new Android phone and when you turn on the power, it will automatically ask you to sync your phone to a Google account.
If you have turned on the phone previously but have not yet synced it to a Google account then you can head over to the Settings menu and then select the Accounts option where you will see an add account button at the end. Click on the add account button and enter your Google login details so that your Android device is synced properly to your Google accounts.
This will make it easier for you to transfer Apple contacts to Android and will also answer your question of how to sync contacts from iPhone to Android.
Now that you have iPhone export contacts and you have also synced your Google account with your new Android device, now all you need to do is to transfer contacts to Android device. So once you sign in to your Google Account, it will automatically sync all your contacts, calendars, events, and other things into your Android device. This means that you will now have Android contacts and all your contacts will then be successfully transferred from iPhone to Android.
While we have taken you through some of the ways on how to copy contacts from iPhone to Android, there is another way through which you can do it, the App way. You can download an app to transfer contacts from iPhone to Android and vice-versa. You can use the My Contacts Backup app to transfer contacts from one device to another.
Download the app from the App Store and launch it on your phone. The app will ask you to provide access to your contacts after which you can backup all your contacts. A VCF file will be created once the backup is complete. You can attach and send that file through an email. On the other phone open the email to download the VCF file and import all your contacts on your Android device.
There are more and more apps surfacing on the App Store and Play Store that you can download in order to transfer, export, and import contacts from one device to another without much of a hassle.
